Yeh, i really wanna take it
but will they take it off me and i'll never see it again?
when they put it through the customs check
Can yew listen to an mp3 player whilest on a Ryanair plane flying to Dublin?
Yes you can listen to it, but as others have said, not while the "fasten seatbelts sign" is on.
"They" will not put it through the customs check. Customs controls on a flight to Dublin are in Dublin Airport. As you are travelling from another EU country (assumption on my part) you should exit via the blue channel. Customs cannot stop you in the blue channel, other than to ascertain your right to be there, unless they have prior information/intelligence that you are involved in drug smuggling or terrorist activity.
The security check at your airport of departure may ask you to prove that it works.
Reply:yes you can listen to it on the plane but not during take off, once you are up in the air and the seat belt sign goes off you can put it on.
same goes for all other electricals e.g. psp, dvd player etc.
have a great time in dublin, i love it there!
Reply:There will be no problems taking it through customs of security. (Although security would prefer it if you took it off while they check it). On the plane, you can listen to it when the seat belts light is off.
Reply:Of course you can take it!!!
Reply:yes but not during take off or landing
Reply:They cant do that. Yea u can take mp3 players.

The yew shrub near my garage is starting to turn yellow and lose needles.?
I don't think the ground is too wet. In the past when I had a problem with yews (at other houses) it turned out to be some kind of insect. I don't see any spider webs on it so I think a spider mite is not the problem. I used to spray it with something but can't remember what it was. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks
The yew shrub near my garage is starting to turn yellow and lose needles.?
It could be the concrete around it. It can suck all of the acidity out of your soil. All evergreen shrubs prefer acidic soil, so try treating it with a fertlizer with a high 1st number (12-6-6). You could also buy some aluminum sulfate granulars and sprinkle some around your yew every other month.
If you recently planted your yew and you are certain that the yellowing leaves aren't due to overwatering, you might just want to check the depth at which it was planted. If it was buried just slightly too deep, you could be drowning it even with normal amounts of water. If that is the case, then dig it up and replant at a shallower depth. I have seen things bounce back within 7-10 days when just dug up an inch or so. It may be that the one spot beside your garage holds more water than normal. Just check it out. Good Luck!
Reply:give it a good dose of all purpose fertilizer with minors and water when it gets dry.

HOW DO yEW TAKE FAKE NAiiLS OFF THAT yEW GOT DONE AT A SALON, with out useing asitone or nail polish remover?
Mii FiiNGERS HERT SO BAD PLZZZ HELP
HOW DO yEW TAKE FAKE NAiiLS OFF THAT yEW GOT DONE AT A SALON, with out useing asitone or nail polish remover?
use asitone. it is the easiest way. if not, you have to peel them off with your other nails. it can be painful, just hold your breath and peel it off.
Reply:Here is an alternative to Asitone, keep in mind that it will take longer without damaging your nails but it will work. Cut the nail down as far as you can without cuting your own nails and then soak you hands in hot water with dish soap until your own natural nails soften and the fake nail will loosen. After you have soaked for a while lift at one corner and gradually work the nail off, if it doesn't seem like it is lifting then soak your hands longer until the fake nail is able to be lifted off your own nail. Good luck and remember this takes time but it does work.
Reply:Sure. I can totally help ya. Mine hurt too, so I decided I wasn't going to go through having them use acetone and rip the crap outta my nails, cuz that hurts!
So...instead...I cut them down with a clipper, and let them grow out a little more each week, cutting them down again...until after about 5 weeks they were gonzo. Works like a charm! And no pain either! :-)
So...If you can deal with seeing ugly nails as the fake ones grow out (for the next five weeks or so), you'll be really happy that you did it the way I suggest in my posting, cuz you'll never experience any pain and your real nails will be in great shape.:-)
P.S. I loved doing it this way the best, cuz one time I had the salon do it, and they dipped my nails in acetone and ripped them off with pliers. That REALLLY hurt. It also ripped off like two freakin' layers of nail which was really ugly!!!

If you trim an English yew back to the bare wood, will foilage subsequently grow on the bare wood?
I have two densiformia yews that are encroaching on the walkway to the entrance to our front door. My wife is after me to trim them back so there is adequate clearance. In order to do that I need to cut back to the bare wood. I have a concern if I do that, foilage won't grow on the wooden stems. I do seem to remember seeing yews cut back severely like that and new growth did appear from the bare wood. Is that the case with yews in general?
If you trim an English yew back to the bare wood, will foilage subsequently grow on the bare wood?
yes, yews will grow back within the year...it is arbs that will not grow back
Reply:Yes. Yew will usually grow back
Reply:Yes and no, it depends on the time of year and how far back it has been pruned.

What do you think of the controversy with Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew inviting...?
..Chinese official Li Lanqing to receive an honorary doctorate in Literature from the National University of Singapore on July 6, 2006? Li Lanqing is accused of crimes against Falun Gong practitioners, who request MM Lee Kuan Yew to withdraw the aforesaid award. Economic wisdom or politically wrong move?
What do you think of the controversy with Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew inviting...?
I didn't read about that..I'm not informed enough to make an educated comment on this at the moment. Even if I was, I'm not sure if it would be wise to say anything here. I'm answering this just to give you moral support (and me - 2 points...although it lowers my best answers average...).
You know, on a side note, even if self-censorship wasn't so prevalent amongst Singaporeans, I doubt you'd get many answers on a question like this from them. Singaporeans are just politically apathetic.....They are too busy answering questions on dating, movie stars and other inconsequential topics like "do you like my avatar?".

Does anyone know a story or legend about ghosts and the yew tree?
Tell, even a short story or a brief narrative. I revere the Yew trees and I am very curious about them. Please also tell, if possible, the place where the story or legend happened and if you have any saxon ascendance.
Does anyone know a story or legend about ghosts and the yew tree?
The yew's reputation for long life is due to the unique way in which the tree grows. Its branches grow down into the ground to form new stems, which then rise up around the old central growth as separate but linked trunks. After a time, they cannot be distinguished from the original tree. So the yew has always been a symbol of death and rebirth, the new that springs out of the old, and a fitting tree for us to study at the beginning of this new year. As the days now grow longer with the beginning of a new solar cycle, we move into the future on the achievements of the past, new creativity springs forth grounded in the accomplishments of " the year gone by.

For a research paper on Lee Kuan Yew, what would be an interesting angle or specific topic?
Hi guys. I really need help with my term paper(I know it's the holidays, but i just want to finish with my paper immediately.;p). My general topic is Lee Kuan Yew, but i dunno what my specific topic should be. Could you guys please give me an interesting specific topic? Or a possible thesis statement? Our paper's supposed to be around 10 pages long.
I'm going to the National Library of Singapore tomorrow to continue my research there, so it'd be better if i'll get some answers right away. Thanks in advance.:)
For a research paper on Lee Kuan Yew, what would be an interesting angle or specific topic?
How about looking at his "ends justify the means" political practices?
Legacy
During the three decades in which Lee held office, Singapore grew from being a developing country to one of the most developed nations in Asia, despite its small population, limited land space and lack of natural resources. Lee has often stated that Singapore's only natural resources are its people and their strong work ethic. He is widely respected by many Singaporeans, particularly the older generation, who remember his inspiring leadership during independence and the separation from Malaysia. He has often been credited with being the architect of Singapore's present prosperity, although the role was also played by his Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Goh Keng Swee, who was in charge of the economy.
[edit] Controversies
On the other hand, some Singaporeans and foreigners [3] have criticized Lee as elitist and even an autocrat, and that the economic prosperity under Lee was achieved at the expense of much political and social freedom. Lee was once quoted as saying he preferred to be feared than loved.[4] A believer that the ends justify the means, Lee often prescribed certain measures, seen as repressive by some, to safeguard national security and interests.
Lee has been criticized for implementing some harsh measures to suppress political opposition and freedom of speech, such as outlawing public demonstrations without an explicit police permit, the restriction of the press freedom, and the use of defamation lawsuits to bankrupt political opponents, such as Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam, Tang Liang Hong and Chee Soon Juan. On political matters, public opinion was rarely solicited.
On the above issue, Devan Nair, the third president of Singapore and who was living in exile in Canada, remarked in a 1999 interview with the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail that Lee's technique of suing his opponents into bankruptcy or oblivion was an abrogation of political rights. He also remarked that Lee is 'an increasingly self-righteous know-all', surrounded by 'department store dummies'. In response to these remarks, Lee sued Devan Nair in a Canadian court and Nair countersued.[6] Lee then brought a motion to have Nair's counterclaim thrown out of court. Lee argued that Nair's counterclaim disclosed no reasonable cause of action and constituted an inflammatory attack on the integrity of the government of Singapore. However, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice refused to throw out Nair's counterclaim, holding that Lee had abused the litigating process and therefore Nair has a reasonable cause of action. [[5]]. After his death, The Economist published an obituary of Nair which was critical of Lee Kuan Yew. The following issue, The Economist published a letter from a Singaporean official which claimed Nair's drunkenness was a source of his mental disturbance in his latter years. The Economist did not publish other letters that were supportive of Nair due to the reason that the publication would be forced into another lengthy libel trial.
On one occasion, after a court ruling in favour of Lee was overturned by the Privy Council, the government abolished the right of appeal to the Council. Throughout Lee's premiership from 1959 to 1990, the Internal Security Act was invoked several times to arrest and detain a number of people without trial, often for alleged involvement in "pro-Communist" or "Marxist" activities. Chia Thye Poh, a former MP of the opposition Barisan Socialis, was detained for 32 years, including nine years on the resort island of Sentosa. In order to give full authority to the judges in their judicial decisions, Lee abolished the jury system in the courts. He argued that jurors are more liable to be swayed emotionally whereas a judge would be more objective and impartial.

When is the best time to trim yew trees?
They are very resilient plants %26amp; you can trim them whenever you like. For a nice flush of new growth covering the plant, do it in early sping. To clean it up, cause it grows all summer, trim in the summer. However try to avoid doing it when temps are over 80 to avoid stress that can cause some browning. It's just cosmetic %26amp; the plant will be fine if it happens, it just doesn't look good for a while.
Reply:as yews are evergreen (pardon the humor)yew can trim them any time.usually done late spring so the cut ends are foliaged over by autum.hope this helps
Reply:In the autum when the leaves have fallen off and the sap has returned to the root
Reply:Best time to trim any fruiting/flowering tree,is after most.if not all.of the fruit/flowers have fallen,
This is generally in Sept/Oct,b depends on the climate;earlier if its frosty, later if its mild.
For yew trees, the optimum time would be about August/September,and only remove the sideshoots, not the main branches
Reply:when ever yew want to.
Reply:i always cut my trees, shrubs back in october, you can trim them back between october and begining of febuary,
Reply:About 10 am after yew had some brekkie and a cup of tea
Reply:just after you've practised by chopping down my jungle :)
