If you plant the red berries from a yew bush, will a new bush grow?

If so, should you plant it inside or outside? Can you use a pot?

Running the seed through a bird is called "stratification" which is what needs to happen before they will grow. Carefully remove the seeds from the berry (DO NOT EAT THEM YOU WILL GET SICK) by letting them soak in water until the coating is gone. Now they need to go through a cold spell. Either put them in a plastic bag with damp (not wet)peat moss and set them in the back of your refrigerator 8-12 weeks, then take them out, plant them and let them grow until they get their second set of true leaves, at which time you can transplant them into the spot where you want them, or just plant them where you want them to grow and let them go through the winter. They should come up if a mouse or bird doesn't eat them.

I have included the wikipedia article about the plant, however it sounds like the seeds in the berries are eaten by birds and the pooed out undamaged and then spend 2-3 months maturing and this increases the chances of a plant growing.

My best suggestion (other than more research or finding someone that defiantly knows what they are talking about) would be to carefully remove the seeds if possible and then dry them out over a month or two. At that point I would either plant them, or get them to germinate (placing them between 2 moist paper towels out of the sun...and then planting them once they are a plant.

I hope this helps
