Why does America criticise Putin's election? He's doing what Lee Kwan Yew did, which no-one complained about.

He's made himself Minister Mentor, using the phrase Lee invented. Lee and Putin are the two greatest statesmen in the world today, so it's appropriate.

Lee is the founding father of Singapore and Putin that of modern Russia (after the debacle of Yeltsin). Long may they both reign - their countries need them, Russia desperately.

Why does America criticise Putin's election? He's doing what Lee Kwan Yew did, which no-one complained about.
Americans criticize Putin because they are told to by the press.

American leaders criticize Putin because he is trying to keep his country safe from foreign powers, and making his country strong and healthy. Western leaders don't like this because they want to eventually dominate the world, and they can't do that if there is a balance of power.

If Putin had acted the way American leaders wanted him to act, he would be a weak leader and the worst forces within Russia would tear the country apart.

For those who think the election was rigged, take a close look at the details (without letting the western press tell you what to think) and you will see that Putin acted appropriately.

The only thing "we" find inappropriate is that he is a Russian patriot instead of an American puppet.

And I hope people will stop with the knee-jerk response of thinking whatever Putin does, it must be for a sinister motive.

Reply:Both are authoritarian, considered "dictatorial" hence banging heads with a democratic US. It appears that you are very comfortable under this sort of "rule". I believe you will have no objection to the DPRK Kim Dynasty too - you know the father-%26amp;-son thing to ensure absolute authority and rule.
Reply:Better than what England's got by far all they do is sit and say lets think about how to make it crap for the people while we run off abroad with sacks full of cash while wearing a stripy jumper and a jimmy carter mask
Reply:america thinks they can dictate to the rest of the world how they should run their countries - makes no matter that the biggest american criminal in history is sitting in the white house playing roulette with peoples lives

bush is just setting up a platform for another invasion - and the worst part is americans know it and sit there like dumb posts as if theres nothing they can do about it
Reply:I think its because Russia doesn't support US policy which makes them automatic bad guys. If Putin allowed enough oil to US-friendly Ukraine and stopped clamping down on pro-US sentiment we'd all be cheering for him.
Reply:Putin has proved himself to be anti west, a die hard communist, what's good about that. Taking Russia to the bad old days of the cold war. The elections are rigged so that;s not democratic, he's not a good statesman, if he is was he should be making peace with the west.
Reply:It is simply becuse we don't want to admit that we dammaged US Russian ties becuse of short sided policies of engagement. So it's easer to blame the man The Russians elected and thus the Russian people. The balkans for example are a classic stikking point we could have got a lot further if we had been working with the Russians instead of agaisnt them. The US was acting baltetly anti Russian in Eastern Europe espeicaly the Balkans after the so called end of the Cold war.

From what I see I don't think the elections are rigged as most of the Russians I know like Putin I go to Church with quite a few.
Reply:I dont care about who is the bad guys and who is the good guys. All I care is about my safety, which means I DONT WANT A NUCLEAR WAR, WINTER, or anything like that. Therefore, I cant tell who is the bad guy and the good guys because every single person is in for their own advantages.
